Aerial views of typhoon destruction

Members of an aid team from the United States fly from Tacloban south to survey damages of Leyte province in central Philippines. Entire villages have been flattened after super typhoon Haiyan hit the region last weekend. Rescue workers have yet to reach scores of towns and villages in the path of one of the strongest storms on record. The official death toll stands at 1774, but that number is expected to rise.
