Graffiti artist Banksy brings his New York residency to an end

Renegade graffiti artist Banksy ended his month-long run in New York with a simple name tag on a building near the Long Island Expressway. The British artist posted the photos on his website with a message: "And that's it. Thanks for your patience. It's been fun. Save 5pointz. Bye." Banksy, who has remained anonymous since his work debuted in 1993, has been treating New Yorkers to a new piece of art each day of October for his "Better Out Than In" series. The artwork - including the Twin Towers stenciled on a Tribeca building wall and a large statue of Ronald McDonald getting a shoe shine displayed in the Bronx - pop up in unexpected locations and have attracted flocks of fans. Banksy has become a coveted contemporary painter in the art world, known for his trademark spray-paint stencils on buildings that offer social commentary.
