Peter Maurer, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) met today with José Manuel Barroso, the president of the European Commission, to discuss strategic partnership between the two institutions, the humanitarian situation in Syria, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Afghanistan, and other issues of mutual concern.
