North Korean leader attends meetings with military officers

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended meetings with military officers on Tuesday and Wednesday in Pyongyang, the state media reported. Video broadcast by North Korea's state-run television KRT on Saturday showed its leader Kim attending the fourth meeting of company commanders and political instructors of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and making opening and closing speeches. It was unclear whether the video were taken on Tuesday or Wednesday. The video showed Kim awarding prizes to outstanding military officers at the meeting. The North's official news agency KCNA reported that the meeting also discussed ways to strengthening military units in the army. Seoul's Yonhap news agency said the meeting was attended by 20,000 military officers, it is also the largest convened by the North and the first to be held in more than a decade.
