Crash of U.S. surveillance plane in Colombia kills five

EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3 There was only one survivor after a Dash 8 plane crashed in northern Colombia on Saturday. Five people died when the aircraft, on a U.S. government surveillance mission, came down in the jungle near the Panama border. It's an area where Colombian guerrillas and drug trafficking gangs operate. The cause of the accident was unclear. Military sources declined to reveal the identities of those on board but the plane was carrying five Americans and one Panamanian. The survivor was found by search and rescue teams and flown to a hospital. The United States is Colombia's principal ally in the fight against drug trafficking and illegal armed groups, which earn millions for cocaine production and transport.
