A landscape of despair in Myanmar. Homes are burnt to the ground and people are killed in Rakhine state after mobs torched Muslim homes and Buddhist villagers were attacked. While security forces attempted to stem the violence one muslim man says they offered little help. (SOUNDBITE) (Burmese) HLAINGMYINT, MUSLIM MAN, SAYING: "About 1,000 people approached us. The police didn't do thing to protect us. They also didn't shoot at the mob." A muslim woman fears that she will never be able to go home again. (SOUNDBITE) (Burmese) HLA HLA YI, MUSLIM WOMAN, SAYING: "I am really afraid. I don't dare back to my home because they are killing people." The violence is the first flare-up in three months in the coastal state -- a flashpoint of unrest that has dogged Myanmar's reformist government since June 2012.
