Strong winds damages homes in Australia

Strong winds and thunderstorms have caused damage to some properties in Melbourne on Wednesday (October 2) uprooting trees and leaving homes without power, Australian media reported. Local media reported that the State Emergency Services (SES) has had 5,200 calls for assistance since Monday (September 30). Severe weather also affected parts of South Australia, with high winds blowing over property and capsizing some boats. In the state's second biggest city, Mount Gambier, winds of up to 105 kilometres (65 miles) an hour were recorded, local media said.
