President Obama mounted a passionate, campaign-style defense of his health care program just days before its main elements take effect, mocking opponents for ?crazy? arguments and accusing them of trying to ?blackmail a president? to stop the law. Spokesman Jay Carney said The White House would not agree to repealing a medical device tax as part of a stop-gap bill to continue funding the government past September 30th. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry sought to bolster international support to keep pressure on Iran in nuclear talks with world powers even as Iran's new president pressed a diplomatic charm offensive at the United Nations. Ahead of the session, Kerry said he looked forward to a "good meeting" but would not address what Iran needed to do to show a genuine desire to address its nuclear program. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, on Thursday rejected plans by Republicans in the House of Representatives to advance a debt limit increase bill that contains measures such as delaying "Obamacare."
