Kerry, Netanyahu say military option still on table for Syria

While the new U.S.-Russia deal on Syria's chemical weapons may have postponed strikes, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is reassuring Israel that military action is still a possibility. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY, SAYING: "Diplomacy has always been the preferred path of the President of the United States and I think any peace loving nation's preferred choice, but make no mistake we've taken no options off the table." In Jerusalem, Kerry briefed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the six-point framework agreed to by the U.S. and Russia. Syria has a week to reveal a full inventory of its stockpiles and must give up those weapons and destroy them by the middle of 2014. If Syria fails to comply, the country could face sanctions or even military force. Netanyahu gave Kerry his support for the negotiations and warned the world about the message Iran would receive if Syria goes unpunished. (SOUNDBITE) (English
