Syrians don't fear U.S. attack - state TV

As the drums of war are banging in Washington, Syrian state TV is talking tough. This soldier says the threat of U.S. military intervention holds no fear for the Syrian Army. The United States made clear on Friday it would punish Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the chemical weapons attack that it says killed more than 1,400 people in Damascus last week. Syrian state TV aired images of residents in the capital Damascus, enjoying a day out. Those interviewed said they were not scared of any attack. The Syrian foreign ministry dismissed U.S. accusations and suggests rebels may have launched the chemical attacks themselves to provoke international action. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called America's accusations nonsense and said any evidence Assad used chemical weapons should be presented to the UN. On Friday, the Russian foreign ministry condemned Obama's threats. (SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESMAN ALEXANDER LUK
