On 31st May 2013, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions reported to the UN Human Rights Council on lethal autonomous robots ( LARS). Such weapons systems, the report states, raise ‘far-reaching concerns about the protection of life during war and peace’.
