Boston bombing suspect charged

The bombing of the Boston marathon in April was the worst mass-casualty attack on U.S. soil since the September 11th attacks in 2001. On Thursday the sole survivor of the two suspects was formally charged on 30 counts. (SOUNDBITE)(English) CARMEN M. ORTIZ, U.S. ATTORNEY, U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, DISTRICT OF MASSACHUSETTS, SAYING: "The defendant's alleged conduct forever changed lives. The victims, their families, and this community have shown extraordinary strength and resilience in the face of this senseless violence." Dhokhar Tsarnaev is charged with planting the bombs that killed three people. He's also accused of killing a campus police officer in his efforts to evade arrest. Other charges include carjacking and engaging in a gun battle with police during which his elder brother Tamerlan was killed. Dhokhar Tsarnaev was badly wounded but survived. He could face execution if convicted.
