Obama arrives in Germany

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Germany on Tuesday evening where he will hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauck the following day before delivering a speech at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate. Obama arrived from the G8 summit in Northern Ireland and touched down at Berlin's Tegel airport at 8:20 p.m. (1820 GMT), where he was met by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle. On Wednesday, the American president will begin his official program with a courtesy visit to his German counterpart Joachim Gauck, who holds a largely ceremonial role. Obama will then meet with Chancellor Merkel before they hold a joint news conference around noon. In the afternoon, Obama will deliver a half hour speech at Berlin's landmark, the Brandenburg Gate which was once the symbol of German division and later of unification. After a state dinner, Obama will depart for the United States.
