Food Bill: No Ordinance for Now, Govt Wants Special Parliament Session

The government has abandoned plans to push through the National Food Security Bill through an ordinance. After a Cabinet meeting at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence today, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the government will try to call a special session of Parliament to debate and pass the bill which aims at providing the legal right to subsidised food to nearly 70% of India's population.Powered by Producer : NDTV
