UN appeals for more help in Syria

As the conflict rages in Syria, the UN says it needs help. The flames of war have already killed at least 80,000 people with some 1.6 million Syrians now living as refugees in other countries. UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres is appealing for help. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UN HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES, ANTONIO GUTERRES, SAYING: "There is already evident spill over of the conflict in Lebanon and in Iraq. Jordan is in a very fragile economic situation and if the fighting doesn't stop, we risk to have an explosion n the Middle East for which the international community is simply not prepared." On Thursday, the European Union pledged an extra 523 million dollars of aid for Syria. But it is not enough.
