Anchored putting banned by golf's ruling bodies

Golf's rule makers, the US Golf Association and R&A, will ban the controversial practice of anchoring putters in competition effective from January 1st 2016, it was announced this week. The newly introduced rule 14-1b will see the ban apply to broomhandle and belly putters and any other putter that is rested, or anchored, against a part of the body.
