Thai anti-government party marks anniversary of bloody crackdown

In Bangkok, a sea of red. Thousands of members of Thailand's anti-government movement gathered to mark the third anniversary of the 2010 "red shirt" protests. The event sparked a bloody military crackdown that ended with 91 people dead and hundreds of activists arrested. On Sunday, there were prayers for the victims who also included six soldiers and two journalists. Their 2010 protests by the group included a three month occupation that forced many businesses in the area to shut down. At the time, many were angry about the direction the country had taken after a military coup that ousted Thaksin Shinawatra.
