Those colourful critters the Angry Birds will soon be catapulted from the small screen to the big. A 3D animated feature based on the best-selling mobile game will dive-bomb its way onto movie screens in 2016. The announcement comes fast on the heels of the successful "Angry Birds Toons" animated series shown here. The upcoming movie marks the first foray into feature films for Finnish game-maker Rovio, in a joint venture with Sony Pictures. The Angry Birds mobile game launched in 2009, becoming the top paid application of all time with over 1.7 billion downloads.
