Floods hammer southern China

ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION. Torrential rain in southern China's Guangdong province has affected more than 30,000 people with one killed in the floods, state media reported on Friday (May 10). Since Tuesday (May 7), heavy rain continuously swept across parts of Guangdong province,China state news agency Xinhua reported. Yangjiang is one of the hardest hit cities in the southern province, with flood waters stranding vehicles and houses in low-lying areas on Friday, China's state television CCTV reported on Saturday (May 11). CCTV showed footage of cars submerged, with some stuck in floodwaters almost as high as their roofs. Shops and homes are not spared, with many people left waddling through waist-high water.
