Australian rock singer Chrissy Amphlett dies at 53

Chrissy Amphlett, who fronted Australian group the Divinyls, has died aged 53. It followed a battle with breast cancer and multiple sclerosis. Best known for the worldwide hit 'I Touch Myself', The Divinyls recorded five albums between 1982 and 1996 when they split up. Former manager Andrew McManus led tributes. SOUNDBITE, Andrew McManus, former manager, saying (English): "Chrissy trailblazed rock and roll, not only for women in this country but for the whole Australian music scene and she was one of those people that when she hit the stage it was a hundred miles an hour." Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard also paid her respects. SOUNDBITE, Julia Gillard, Australian Prime Minister, saying (English): "I think many Australians, who like me grew up with the music will be feeling this loss today."
