Fired officer defends Trayvon Martin shooting target

A Florida police officer, fired for using a target resembling Trayvon Martin, has spoken out against the allegations. Ron King lost his job last week for using a silhouette of the teenager, who was shot and killed by a neighbourhood watch volunteer in 2012. In a video statement King says the target was intended as a training tool for a "no-shoot situation". SOUNDBITE: (English) FIRED FLORIDA POLICE OFFICER RON KING SAYING: "I am being accused of using a Trayvon Martin silhouette target for firearms training in a manner that is less than professional. I take these allegations seriously and I find that others are accusing me of something that I just plain did not do." Police officials have apologised to Martin's family, saying the target was unacceptable. The unarmed 17-year-old was shot last year by George Zimmerman, who initially went free claiming self defence. He now faces charges of second degree murder.
