Rebels move in on Aleppo

Rebel fighters pray in Aleppo as they prepare for the fight against government forces to control Syria's commercial hub. Gunfire is heard as opposition forces head into the city. One man holds the head of a statue of former Syrian leader, Hafez Al Assad. He throws it to the ground. The video, obtained by Reuters shows dark plumes of smoke and fire rising from a building. Graffiti marks the walls of the city. One person wrote "Either al Assad or we will burn the country" Reports that a rebel group has aligned itself with al-Qaeda has alarmed Western powers that want to see an end to the Assad family's rule -- but do not want to intervene militarily. More than 70,000 people have already died in the conflict that started more than two years ago -- with no end in sight.
