Runners take on the Seven Mile Bridge

Nearly 1,500 runners took part in the 31st annual Seven Mile Bridge Run in the Florida Keys on Saturday (April 13). The race was held on the longest bridge in the Florida Keys, which was closed to traffic for two hours and fifteen minutes. The Seven Mile Bridge Run has become an extremely popular event in the southeastern United States. Typically, the online registration to sign up for the race fills up within a matter of minutes when it opens in mid-February. The race was first held in 1982 to mark the completion of 37 new bridges to replace converted railroad bridges built in the early 1900s.
