Foreign ministers meet in London for G8 summit

G8 foreign ministers gathered at historic Lancaster House in central London on Thursday for a summit, with Syria, North Korea and Iran said to top the agenda. The talks, which began over dinner on Wednesday night and were due to end later on Thursday, will also be the first chance for the ministers to discuss face-to-face the failure of last week's meeting in Almaty on curbing Iran's nuclear programme. Britain was expected to call for more help for the Syrian opposition but there are no signs of a major shift in policy.
