Funicello dead at 70, Luke Bryan gets ACMA's top prize

Annette Funicello has died. Funicello was America's peaches-and-cream girl, portraying the innocence of the 1950s and 1960s, first as a Disney Mouseketeer and then as the star of a series of beach movies, like "Beach Blanket Bingo." Her family said she died in hospital in Bakersfield, California, while in a coma due to suffering from multiple sclerosis. She was 70. Luke Bryan took the top honor at the Academy of Country Music awards, winning the award for Entertainer of the Year. Also winning big was Miranda Lambert, who picked up four awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year. Not such a lucky night for Taylor Swift, who went home empty handed after being nominated in five categories. Katy Perry was in Madagascar as part of her new role as a UNICEF ambassador.
