One killed in Ohio pileup

At least one person has died in Ohio after three major traffic accidents on Monday (January 21). Icy roads and scattered snow caused dozens of vehicles to crash across parts of the state. Witnesses here on an interstate near Cincinnati say poor visibility caused drivers to lose control. SOUNDBITE: PETER CHADWICK, MOTORIST, SAYING (English): "And it was a total whiteout and you could only see in front of you about 40 to 50 yards (37 to 46m) driving slow, and cars are literally sliding everywhere. You are looking in your rear view mirror and you are looking in front of you, everybody is trying to dodge everybody." SOUNDBITE: KEVIN JIN, MOTORIST, SAYING (English): "The snow got so bad, like I could not see anything in front of me, and I just saw some guy jumping up and down, you know, and like 'hey, stop, stop," you know, so I immediately realized that there was an accident there but I never realized it was this serious." At least 20 people have been taken to hospital and a number of others were treated on site. Officials say drivers are contending with dangerous conditions as wintery weather moves in.
