Missoni show goes on, hopes heir is alive

Italian fashion house Missoni showcased its fall 2013 collection in Milan despite awaiting news about the fate of its missing Chief Executive Vittorio Missoni. The house famous for its zig-zag patterns showed innovative knit techniques for fall in the colors of the North American landscape of grays, silvers and greens. The plane carrying Vittorio, the heir of the family-owned company, his wife and four others disappeared on January 4 off the coast of Venezuela. In a recent investigation the Italian agency for flight security said that the airline that owned the plane was not fully licensed to operate and that the pilot's license had expired on November 30, more than a month before the flight. Vittorio's sister and designer of the show Angela Missoni was backstage but said in a statement that she would not release interviews or comments. Echoing the dim mood, the crowd found itself applauding for no one at the end of the show.
