Cheery Taliban leaders deny rift

No split here - the head of Pakistan's Taliban releases a video message denying rumours of a split with his deputy - seen here on the left. Hakimullah Mehsud accused the media of spreading 'unfounded stories.' "In the past also, the media has spread such propaganda," he says. "We will remain together until death, god willing." Mehsud also said his militia was willing to negotiate with the government but not disarm. He blamed the Pakistani government for much of the violence in the country saying it had broken previous unspecified deals. The video message follows three high-profile Taliban attacks in the northern city of Peshawar this month. However, the Taliban has been pushed back in its key stronghold by the Pakistani military and U.S. drone attacks.
