Hoax call radio station 'tried to call hospital'

The radio station that made a hoax call to a London hospital treating Prince William's pregnant wife has yet again defended its actions. Police are looking in to the call, after a nurse who was duped by presenters at 2Day FM was found dead. The station's parent company, Southern Cross Austereo, says it's confident the station has done nothing illegal. CEO Rhys Holleran told the 3AW radio station that protocol had been followed. MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA (DECEMBER 10, 2012) (AUDIO: NEIL MITCHELL PROGRAMME, 3AW RADIO - ACCESS ALL) (SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTHERN CROSS AUSTEREO CHIEF EXECUTIVE RHYS HOLLERAN SAYING: "It is absolutely true to say that we did attempt to contact those people on multiple occasions." (3AW RADIO PRESENTER NEILL MICTHELL SAYING: "Really, to get approval?") (SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTHERN CROSS AUSTEREO CHIEF EXECUTIVE RHYS HOLLERAN SAYING: "We rang them up to discuss what we had recorded." (3AW RADIO PRESENTER NEILL MICTHELL SAYING: "Before it went to air?") (SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTHERN CROSS AUSTEREO CHIEF EXECUTIVE RHYS HOLLERAN SAYING: "Absolutely, we tried, we attempted to contact them no less than five occasions." Police in London are reportedly seeking to question the two presenters, who have been taken off air indefinitely.
