French right-wing party split over leadership

A proposal by the French right-wing opposition party's disputed leader to hold a fresh leadership vote in 2014 sparked another round of bickering Sunday despite warnings from ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy. Francois Fillon contests Jean-Francois Cope's win in the November 18 vote that was marred by allegations of ballot-stuffing. Cope's supporters gathered in Nancy, western France, to hear him speak.
