U.S. base hit by suicide bombers

Security forces on patrol outside a U.S. base targeted by suicide bombers in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday. The militants detonated bombs and launched rockets at the base in Jalalabad. Police said 12 bodies dressed in Afghan police or military uniforms were found near the base. It wasn't immediately clear if the bodies were those of Afghan security personnel or militants. The NATO-led International Assistance Force said an Afghan soldier was killed and several wounded in the attack. The Taliban said in a text message that it was behind the early morning assault. A suicide car bomber killed nine people in February at the same base which is almost exclusively used by NATO an the U.S. military.
