Berry's ex gets court date, Tolkien estate sues

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL Halle Berry's ex and father of their daughter, Gabriel Aubry is headed to court after he was arrested following a fistfight with her fiancé outside the Oscar winning actress' Los Angeles home on Thanksgiving, police said. Canadian model, Aubry, was later released on 20,000 U.S. dollars bail after being charged with misdemeanor battery following the punch-up with Berry's fiancé, French actor Olivier Martinez in the driveway of her house on Thursday (November 22). Berry has been embroiled in a bitter custody battle with Aubry since they broke up in April 2010. Earlier this month, a judge denied Berry's request to move to France with Nahla. Aubry is due to appear in court on December 13. The estate of "The Lord of the Rings" author J.R.R. Tolkien and publisher HarperCollins have filed an 80 million U.S. dollar lawsuit against Warner Bros. studios over the licensing of characters and plots in online and gambling games derived from the films. The lawsuit, which was filed Monday (November 19), alleges that Warner Bros. and its subsidiary New Line Cinema - which own the merchandising rights to the "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" brands - infringed on copyrights by licensing to casino slot machines, online gambling, games and downloads. The lawsuit comes just a week ahead of the world premiere of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," the first of a new trilogy of films returning to Tolkien's world. British group One Direction picked up the Favorite International Artist award at the 2012 Bambi Awards in Duesseldorf, Germany on Thursday (November 22). The award for the boy band comes as the group made U.S. chart history by becoming the first British group to have their debut album and its follow-up go straight to Number 1 in the Billboard Top 200. Canadian singer Celine Dion opened the 64th annual Bambi awards, where she received an award in the "entertainment" category for being "one of the most successful solo artists of our time and for being a great entertainer." Mexican-born actress Salma Hayek picked up the Bambi award in the "Film International" category.
