Celebrations and bloodshed in Syria

Celebrations as rebels claim to have overrun a military building in Eastern Syria. The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters shows rebels firing weapons in a mark of victory. Inside the facility some tear down tear down pictures of Syrian President Bashar-al Assad. Others drive off with what they say is part of a government jet they shot down. In Southern Syria more footage appears to show government fighter jets in the sky. In the aftermath of an attack a young boy asks where his father is. Streets are stained with blood. Buildings stand in ruins. French officials now say they plan to discuss supplying arms to opposition forces in the coming weeks. France is wary of militarizing the 20-month-old conflict, but is also reluctant to leave areas under opposition control unprotected against attacks by government forces.
