He's held top positions in provinces at the forefront of China's economic transformation. Li Keqiang is seen as another reformer, mainly because of his relatively liberal university experience at one of the first Chinese schools to resume teaching law after the Cultural Revolution. Trained in North Korea, Zhang was chosen to replace disgraced politician Bo Xilai as Chongqing party boss. He has served as vice premier in charge of industry. Yu is the party boss of China's financial hub, Shanghai. His family's reputation took a hit when Yu's brother, an intelligence official, defected to the U.S. in the mid-1980s. Liu has been minister of the party's propaganda department, keeping domestic media on a tight leash. He formerly worked as a reporter for state-run news agency Xinhua in Inner Mongolia. The ex-mayor of Beijing, Wang is known for his keen grasp of complex economic issues. He was chief executive of the state-owned China Construction Bank and has led trade negotiations with the United States Zhang has a down-to-earth work style. He's an advocate of greater foreign investment with leadership experience in prosperous cities like Shenzhen and Tianjin. These leaders will steer the world's second-largest economy for the next five years.
