Kenneth Branagh knighted, Bardem gets Hollywood star

Actor and director Kenneth Branagh has been made a knight by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace on Friday (November 9). The 51-year-old, who was born in Belfast, said he felt "humble, elated and incredibly lucky." The Oscar nominated Branagh had a starring role in this summer's Olympics Opening Ceremony. "Transformers" director Michael Bay says Mark Wahlberg will star in the franchise's fourth film. Bay called Wahlberg, who will replace Shia LaBeouf, the "perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers' legacy." "Transformers 4" is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures on June 27, 2014. Javier Bardem received the 2,484th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on Thursday (November 8). Bardem, who received a best supporting Oscar in 2008 for his role in "No Country for Old Men," revisits his dark side by playing a villain in the newest James Bond film, "Skyfall." Bardem was joined by "Skyfall" director Sam Mendes and the latest Bond girl, Berenice Marlohe. American novelist Philip Roth has told a French magazine that he's retiring from writing fiction. Roth, who has won the National Book Award twice and a Pulitzer Prize, told Les Inrocks magazine that his most recent book "Nemesis" published in 2010 will be his last. Roth is most well known for "Portnoy's Complaint," as well as for chronicling the Jewish experience in 20th century America.
