Clashes break out at Kuwait demo

Scuffles break out in the Kuwaiti capital, as police disperse protesters marching towards the government headquarters. Tear gas and stun grenades were fired to break up the demonstration, held as anger grows over changes to the voting system. The Gulf state has announced fresh parliamentary elections in December. But the opposition has urged a boycott, saying changes to the electoral law are a constitutional coup. Sunday's (October 21) protest was the latest in a string of demonstrations, as the political power struggle escalates between parliament and the ruling government. Activists said up to 50,000 people gathered to take part. Two former MPs and a journalist were among at least 15 people detained by police.
