George Clooney receives award at ball.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL George Clooney was the man of the hour at the 26th annual Carousel of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills on Saturday (October 20). Clooney was honored for his philanthropic efforts in raising awareness for human rights in Sudan. SOUNDBITE George Clooney saying (English): "We get to this point, we hear these slogans, and we've said them a lot, 'not on our watch,' 'never again.' But the truth is when it comes to innocent people getting slaughtered, it always happens on our watch. It always has, and it happens again and again and again. So, you learn as you go, and you have to figure out, you have to adapt. You learn that you can't make people do the right things, but you can make it harder for them to do the wrong things." On the red carpet, the 51-year-old star talked about his role in the upcoming film, "Gravity," in which he plays a veteran astronaut lost in space desperately trying to return to Earth. Neil Diamond, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds and Jay Leno all lent a hand to support the ball, which has raised more than $75 million in a 35-year span for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes based in Denver, Colorado. The program provides specialized care for children and adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
