Gay Republicans: Fighting for the Right to Marry

While the GOP platform is decidedly anti-gay marriage, not every Republican agrees with the party position on the issue. In this video filmed at the Republican National Convention, Sarah Longwood, a member of the Log Cabin Republicans and Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry, says that the public should be reminded that marriage is a civil institution in that marriage certificates are issued by government. Even if people of faith chose to oppose same-sex marriage because of their religious beliefs, she says, they should recognize that the Constitution, not the Bible, is the country's founding document. "The Constitution should protect us all equally and give us all the same rights," she says. In previous interviews conducted at the RNC, people of faith have held the opposite view about how marriage should be defined.Powered by NewsLook.com Producer :
