Fuel short N. Korea seeks simple solar solution

Glass is forged by fire as North Korea experiments with solar applications. In this video, filmed by the country's state-run news agency, solar panels made here are bringing a new comfort to residents of Nam-ri village in Pyongyang: hot water. The deputy director of the solar development centre where the panels are made says they are popular among users and more are in the works. The temperature of the water is controlled by small regulators attached to kitchen walls. This woman says the service is especially helpful in winter and for cooking. Solar technology helps circumvent the need for fuel amid heavy international sanctions on the country for its nuclear program.
