Mohammad film protests spread

About 1,000 Muslim men gather in front of the National Mosque of Bangladesh to protest the U.S.-made anti-Islam film they say insults the Prophet Mohammad. The protesters marched down the streets of Dhaka toward the U.S. embassy, chanting anti-U.S. slogans and burning an American flag. A senior leader of the group told the crowd that he wants to see the film-maker punished, or, quote "Muslims in the world will rise and they will face America in such a way that America will not be able to handle." The early condemnation of the low-budget movie by the U.S. government and much American public opinion has not halted the spreading protests. Here in Baghdad - demonstrators trampled on the American flag before setting it on fire.. A sheikh told Reuters that he has asked the demonstrators to take action and show their anger over the film. In Basra, protesters gathered as well, shouting anti-American and anti-Israeli chants. Though often enmired in sectarian conflict, Iraq's Sunnis and Shi'ites marched together.
