Star Trek's "Chekov" Honored With Hollywood Star

"Star Trek" legend Walter Koenig has finally been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 75-year old actor is much loved for his role in the original series as the Russian Ensign Pavel Chekov.Koenig was joined at the unveiling by his "Star Trek" co-stars Leonard Nimoy, George Takei and Nichelle Nichols. [Walter Koenig]: (male, English)"When I was a college student and I walked Hollywood Boulevard like lots of tourists did and lots of aspiring actors have in the past. You kind of look at it and see it as something detached from you. It really doesn't have any consequence in your life other than to view all of these names, most of which you've heard of and you've appreciated. That this has happened, regardless of circumstances, regardless of the $150,000 we spent with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to get this. I'm just really tickled."The ceremony comes two days after the 46th anniversary of the premiere of "Star Trek."Koenig joined in the second series, and also starred in the first seven"Star Trek" movies. His star on the Walk of Fame is the first for a "Star Trek" cast member since James Doohan, better known as Scottish engineer Montgomery Scot, was honored 8 years ago.
