Hamlisch dies at 68, Jennifer Lawrence negotiates 10 million dollar deal

Marvin Hamlisch has died. The critically acclaimed composer died from an unspecified illness. Hamlisch - who at age seven was the youngest student ever to be accepted to Juilliard - created more than 40 movie scores including "The Way We Were," for which he won two Oscars. On Broadway, he won a Tony and a Pulitzer Prize for the 1975 musical "A Chorus Line." He was 68. Jennifer Lawrence will earn a nice paycheck for her work on "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire." The Hollywood Reporter claims the actress is negotiating an estimated 10 million dollar contract. Lawrence was reportedly paid a mere 500,000 dollars for the first film, which went on to earn more than 683 million dollars worldwide. Baz Luhrmann's 3D adaptation of "The Great Gatsby" will no longer be a contender for the Oscars in February. The movie's release date - which was originally slated for this December - has been pushed to summer 2013. Warner Bros. said the film was delayed so it "reaches the largest audience possible." Finally, Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, and Steve Carell hit the red carpet in New York for the premiere of "Hope Springs." The film follows a couple who try a week-long therapy session in order to save their marriage. It opens on August 08.
