Peru burns 50-tonnes of marijuana

A police operation in two central regions located a record haul of 50-tonnes worth of marijuana. Estimates suggest a street value of 15 million U.S. dollars. Over a number of days the police burnt and destroyed the plants. The find was 17 times more than all marijuana destroyed by Peru in 2011.
