Preparing for Ramadan in Bangladesh

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Muslims in Bangladesh began fasting on Saturday, joining millions of others around world to mark the holy month of Ramadan. In Dhaka, hundreds of Muslims headed to Chawk Bazaar, a local market, where vendors stood by lavish displays of food. Crowds struggled to walk past each other as they made their way towards their desired treats. Worshippers dashed to their local mosques to pray, with many waiting to share their fast at sunset with others in their community. Many mosques prepared thousands of food packages to be shared by devotees, supported by the local Muslim community. During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from taking food and drink from dawn to dusk and are encouraged to put more effort into learning about and adhering to the the teachings of Islam.
