Spain celebrates football victory

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Ecstatic fans crowd the streets of Madrid to celebrate their record-breaking La Roja team who returned home after they retained their European Championship. Spaniards seized on their Euro 2012 triumph as a source of restored national pride after months of economic anxieties. Large celebrations took place in Cibeles square, the traditional location for Real Madrid festivities. National morale took a beating when Spain was forced to ask for a European rescue for its ailing banks last month. Many were now looking to the historic achievement of the national soccer team as a source of inspiration for the tough months ahead, with lessons to be drawn for Spaniards and their politicians from the squad's triumphant performance.Auteur: reutersTags: Cut reporter streets football Celebrations victory narration marks Rough soccer Gepost: 02 juli 2012Beoordeling: 0.0Stemmen: 0]]>
