Clashes in Ramallah

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Clashes erupted on Sunday between Palestinian security men and protesters angered by the government's attempt to invite a senior Israeli official to the West Bank city of Ramallah, even though the meeting had been put off. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas postponed the controversial meeting with Israeli Vice Premier Shaul Mofaz, that had been scheduled for Sunday, Palestinian officials said on Saturday. The officials did not say when a new date might be set for what would be the highest-level meeting between the two sides since peace talks broke down in 2010. Medical sources said that five people were injured during the scuffles and evacuated to hospital. Demonstrators said that ten people were arrested. A spokesman for the Palestinian security forces could not immediately be reached for comment.Auteur: reutersTags: and Israeli Cut attempt invite Palestinian narration over official protesters Gepost: 02 juli 2012Beoordeling: 0.0Stemmen: 0]]>
