Chimps maul American guide

Chimps frolic in a South African preserve. While their playtime can be cute, the sanctuary was the scene of a violent attack. The animals dragged American guide Andrew Oberle down Thursday as he stood close to their enclosure. The University of Texas student lost several fingers. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MEDI-CLINIC MANAGER, CARMEN SAVVA, SAYING: "He was critical when he came in. He is doing obviously a lot better than when he came." Animals at the Jane Gooddall Institute Chimpanzee Eden have been rescued from abuse in the illegal trading or entertainment industries.
