Islamist president says Egypt will keep on course

Fresh from swearing in as Egypt's new president on Saturday Mohamed Mursi told a jubilant crowd at Cairo University that his government is committed to upholding the country's international agreements. Amid fears from some that a shift towards Islamist rule might undermine peace agreements with Israel and lead to cuts in U.S. military aid, Mursi reiterated his commitment to existing treaties.
