Army evacuates people trapped by snow

Snow continued to fall in Bosnia, taking its eighth victim and stranding thousands of people in its heaviest snowfall ever recorded. More than 100 remote villages have been cut off in the mountains. Possibly trapping people in houses like these. The country has been paralysed for the fourth day with snow blocking roads connecting towns. A state of emergency has been declared in the capital Sarajevo. Military helicopters were used to evacuate the injured to nearby hospitals, and also deliver food to those still trapped. A cold snap that struck Eastern Europe more than week ago, has already claimed hundreds of lives. Sophia Soo, Reuters.
