Musharraf unveils comeback plan

The announcement by Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf that's he's planning a comeback sparked celebrations among his supporters. Musharraf's been living in self-imposed exile since he left office, and the country, in 2008. Now he says he'll go back before the end of the month to lead campaigning by his recently-formed party despite the risk of arrest and threats to his safety. SOUNDBITE: Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf saying (English): "There will be people around me who are my own people, retired men from the special services group. I have been commanding them myself, I have been their colonel in chief, I am sure they will look after me very well. So, other than that, the government of Pakistan is supposed to give me protection through the police." There's a warrant for Musharraf's arrest in Pakistan over charges that he failed to adequately protect assassinated former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. He also faces other risks including threats to his life from Islamist militants in revenge for a crackdown he ordered against them. Musharraf says he'll go back to Pakistan sometime between the 27th and 30th of January. Paul Chapman, Reuters
